Pinamonti and Lazio tempt Sassuolo with new offer after €9m package rejected
Lazio are preparing a different offer to Sassuolo for Andrea Pinamonti after fresh meetings, as it’s reported the €1m loan with €8m option to buy was rejected.
The centre-forward has always been the preferred candidate for coach Gennaro Gattuso, but the cost of the operation pushed the club towards other alternatives.
Those included free agents Mauro Icardi and Bamba Dieng, but the former turned them down, and the latter failed his medical test over a knee injury.
Pinamonti still top choice for Lazio
Multiple sources today including Alfredo Pedullà and Gianluca Di Marzio confirm that Pinamonti’s agent had a new meeting with Lazio to discuss the situation.
They are trying to work together in order to find a solution that would convince Sassuolo.
Il Messaggero and Tuttomercatoweb suggest the first offer of €1m for the loan and an option to buy for a further €8m was rejected, because the Neroverdi wanted circa €4.5m upfront.
In order to make any loan with option agreement go through, Sassuolo would first have to extend Pinamonti’s current contract, which expires in June 2027.
Also linked with Fiorentina and Hull City, the 27-year-old is eager to come to Lazio and work with Gattuso.
A product of the Inter youth academy, Pinamonti is well-travelled, playing for the likes of Frosinone, Genoa, Empoli and Sassuolo.
