AS Roma have reached a verbal agreement with Fenerbahce, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has assured on X. News broke on Saturday that the two clubs were in talks over a loan deal for the defender.

The agreement is a loan with an option to buy. Under certain conditions, that could become an obligation worth eighteen million euros. Earlier, a fee of 20 million euros had still been mentioned.

Oosterwolde remains under contract at Fenerbahce until mid-2028. Roma want to sign him for five seasons.

Gian-Piero Gasperini believes Oosterwolde fits perfectly into his system. Roma already have three other Dutch players on their books: Devyne Rensch, Anass Salah-Eddine and Donyell Malen.

Eager to join that Dutch enclave, Oosterwolde is pushing for the move. Roma have already secured a place in the Champions League, while Fenerbahce still have work to do against Olympique Lyon.

Capable of operating in midfield as well, the defender came through the academy at FC Twente. Parma once paid €3.3 million for him, while Fenerbahce paid €6 million for the Dutchman a year later.

Roma open the new Serie A season against Fiorentina on Monday. That game appears to have come too soon for Oosterwolde.
