Official: Mbangula joins Bologna from Werder Bremen for total €14m agreement

Samuel Mbangula has officially returned to Serie A for Bologna, on loan for €2m with option to buy for another €12m from Werder Bremen, with Jonathan Rowe going to Atalanta.

The Belgian is no stranger to Italian football after coming to the Juventus youth academy in 2020 when he was just a teenager.

He was sold to Werder Bremen only last summer for €10m plus bonus, but is now back in the Peninsula and can potentially stay.

Mbangula signs for Bologna

Bologna have paid €2m for the one-season loan, with an option to make it permanent at the end of this term for another €12m.

Although Mbangula only made 23 previous Serie A appearances, he did score three goals with four assists.

The 22-year-old plays primarily on the left wing, but can also work on the right or as a trequartista behind the striker.

This deal was done in order to allow Jonathan Rowe to complete his transfer to Atalanta for a total figure of around €40m including add-ons.
