Official: Juventus sign Woltemade from Newcastle United in €2.8m deal
Juventus have officially announced their signing of Germany international Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Newcastle United on the final day of the Serie A transfer window.
Woltemade joins the Old Lady on a season-long loan deal after one year in the Premier League with Newcastle, who spent around €75m including bonuses to sign the 6’6 striker from VfB Stuttgart last summer.
Juventus have confirmed the exact cost of the deal: They will pay a loan fee of €2.8m with bonuses of up to €500,000 and ancillary costs of €800,000 to sign Woltemade on loan for the sesaon.
Woltemade is the latest in a long list of Juve’s new summer recruits, which also includes Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, Jhon Lucumi, Guglielmo Vicario, Jeff Ekhator and Zeki Celik. Pape Matar Sarri has also joined Juventus on loan with an option to buy from Tottenham on deadline day.
It had been clear for some time that Luciano Spalletti wanted another option at centre-forward to compete with Kolo Muani and Ekhator, following the departures of last season’s underperformers Lois Openda and Jonathan David.
Juventus had also been exploring potential deals for Manchester United’s Jonathan Zirkzee and Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth, but have eventually settled on a loan deal for Woltemade instead.
The 12-time Germany international, who has four goals for his nation, arrived for his medical with the Bianconeri on Tuesday and will now report for training ahead of Sunday evening’s headline clash against Milan at the Allianz Stadium. He provided eight goals from 34 appearances in the Premier League last season and netted 12 times from 29 appearances in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart in 2024-25.

“A new forward has arrived to reinforce Luciano Spalletti’s attacking ranks – Nick Woltemade has joined Juventus on loan from Newcastle United until 30 June, 2027,” read a statement on the club website.
“Having come through the ranks at Werder Bremen, Woltemade made his first-team debut there in 2020. In 2022/23 he was loaned out to SV Elversberg and, later, after an impressive Bundesliga season, he moved to Stuttgart in the summer of 2024.
“He enjoyed a real breakout spell with Stuttgart, scoring 18 goals in 36 appearances and helping the side win the German Cup, which earned him a move to Premier League club Newcastle United in 2025. In 53 appearances for the Magpies, he scored 11 times and provided six assists.
“Now, a new journey in Italy awaits, and we can’t wait to see him in action. Welcome to Juventus, Nick!”
