Napoli confirm extent of latest Anguissa injury after Fiorentina 1-1 Napoli

Napoli have confirmed that midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a new adductor injury, immediately after his recent return to action.

Anguissa missed Napoli’s 1-0 win over Bologna in Serie A earlier this month and their 1-0 defeat against Arsenal in the Champions League due to an adductor injury earlier this month, but made his return to action in the final minute of the weekend’s 1-1 draw against Fiorentina in the league.

The Cameroon international, however, suffered another injury to his adductor in the short time that he was on the pitch against Fiorentina.

“I wanted to bring Anguissa on, but I’m afraid he’s got a muscular strain again,” Allegri confirmed during his post-match press conference.

Napoli have provided a formal update on Tuesday, confirming that Anguissa was brought in for tests earlier in the day and that he has suffered a ‘low-grade injury to the adductor longus in his right thigh’.

“The Azzurri man has already begun his rehabilitation process,” the statement read.

Fortunately for Napoli, Anguissa now has a three-week international break to work on his recovery, and the initial reports indicate that he is still in with a chance of featuring in the club’s first game after the break, which falls against Frosinone on October 10.
