Napoli and Galatasaray monitoring Dortmund's key defender; BVB not keen to sell him
Borussia Dortmund star Ramy Bensebaini has reportedly garnered interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray and Serie A powerhouse, Napoli.
The Algerian has entered the final year of his contract with Die Borussen, who haven't extended his terms with a new deal just yet, throwing his future into uncertainty.
Galatasaray back in the fray
After having considered a move for him this winter, Galatasaray are back in the fray for Ramy Bensebaini as they look for an attack-minded defender.
A centre-back by trade, the Algerian international struck seven goals in all competitions for the BVB last term while also bagging one for the Desert Warriors during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Tall and athletic, Bensebaini poses immense danger from set-pieces and brings an intimidating presence with his bulky stature and physical style of play.
Galatasaray are keen to bring him to Istanbul before the summer transfer window closes instead of waiting for him to become a free agent in the transfer market next year.
According to Transfermarkt, the centre-back is valued at only €7million, although FotMob and Football Transfers estimate his market price at a slightly higher €9million to €11.5million.
Napoli also in the race
As Napoli gear up to mount another title charge in Serie A, the side is looking for defensive reinforcements and have identified Bensebaini as a potential transfer prospect.
But unlike Galatasaray, the Partenopei are in no hurry to price him away this year. The club reportedly intends to wait until his BVB contract expires and explore the possibility to getting him for free.
Dortmund remain firm
Despite strong interests, Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to let their star defense leave just yet. He was a vital cog in their backline that conceded the lowest number of goals in the Bundesliga last year.
At 31, the Algerian is also among the few experienced players in a squad that has increasingly integrated young newcomers.
Bensebaini could be a positive sphere of influence for rising stars in his position such as Joane Gadou, Kaua Prates and Filippo Mane.
It's also worth mentioning that Nico Schlotterbeck is currently injured and isn't expected to return until September. So selling off Bensebaini now would leave them shy of one more regular starter.
Dortmund's stance could reportedly change only in the event of an extraordinary offer, which highlights how much the club values him.
Since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023, Bensebaini has been a vital cog in their defensive puzzle with his consistency and reliability.
