Diego Moreira was named the MOTM by the Italian papers in Lazio-Milan, but a few of his teammates also played a crucial part in the comeback.

Milan put themselves in a very difficult position at Stadio Olimpico, conceding twice in the first half. However, three substitutions by Ruben Amorim completely changed the game, and the Rossoneri were able to at least snatch a point.

Looking at the ratings from the Italian papers, more specifically Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, Diego Moreira was the undisputed MOTM at 8/10 from both newspapers. We even gave him an 8.5 in our ratings, given just how important those goals were.

Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah were also praised at 7/10 by both papers, while Corriere dello Sport gave Mike Maignan a 7 too (6.5 from Gazzetta for him). It’s pretty clear that the substitutes were the best on the pitch, in other words.

There were quite a few poor performers on the Olimpico pitch, but the worst according to the papers (and the fans) was Pervis Estupinan at 4/10. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was far ‘behind’ at 4.5, but the wing-back was undoubtedly worse.

The paper ratings

Maignan: Gazzetta dello Sport 6.5 and Corriere dello Sport 7.

Gila: 5.5 and 6.5.

De Winter: 5.5 and 5.5.

Pavlovic: 6 and 6.
