MN: Leao back in full training but may not be called up vs. Venezia – the reason
Rafael Leao returned to full training at Milanello today, but his involvement on Friday night remains uncertain for now.
According to the latest from MilanNews, there was some significant news from Milanello today: Leao was back training with the squad. The Portuguese has overcome the muscle problem that kept him out in recent weeks, including Sunday’s Serie A opener against Torino.
He will now work with his team-mates under the orders of Ruben Amorim at the training complex in Carnago to try and get back to match fitness. Despite this, it remains to be seen whether Ruben Amorim will decide to call him up for Friday’s match against Venezia at San Siro.
Meanwhile, the soap opera surrounding his future continues, with two clubs in particular battling it out: Galatasaray and Aston Villa. The Turkish club have been following him for some time and are the only ones to have submitted an official offer to Milan to date.
Galatasaray are believed to already reached an agreement in principle with the Portuguese over personal terms including salary. However, they yet to reach an agreement with the Rossoneri over the transfer fee, though there has been talk of a second bid.
The Milan management are refusing to lower their demands and continue to ask for €50-60m for the former Lille star. Galatasaray appear willing to go as high as €42m with bonuses, while the competition from England remains in the background.
