MN: Amorim close to naming unchanged XI vs. Venezia – the expected lineup at San Siro

After a big win on the opening day, it is possible that Ruben Amorim will keep his AC Milan squad unchanged on Friday night.

In recent years, Milan have been made to pay for constant changes to the XI. For example, Paulo Fonseca’s extreme defensive rotations had a rather large impact on the defensive record of that season and there have been plenty of other similar examples.

So, Amorim may look to buck that trend with some consistency at the start of the season. Even if his hand is slightly forced…

Amorim heading for unchanged XI

As MilanNews writes, Amorim is close to naming an unchanged XI at San Siro tomorrow against Venezia. He was pleased with last weekend’s win, as he stated again in today’s press conference, so there is no major need to make changes.

Moreover, the players who would come in are still not ready yet. For example, Christian Pulisic only returned to training recently, so he may be ready for a cameo. Yet, he wouldn’t be ready to displace Alphadjo Cisse.

There appear to be two decisions that still need to be made, though.

Firstly, Koni De Winter is preferred to Matteo Gabbia currently, but the Belgian could be overtaken. Then, Davide Bartesaghi is challenging Pervis Estupinan for a starting slot, but it seems he’s more in consideration as a central defender than as a wing-back.
