Milla: ‘Como worked hard to be prepared for Champions League debut’
Luis Milla assures Como have ‘worked hard to make sure we’re prepared’ for the historic Champions League debut against RB Leipzig this evening.
It kicks off at the Stadio Sinigaglia at 20.00 UK time (21.00 CEST).
History is made this evening with the first ever Champions League match for Como, a club that was in Serie B just over two years ago, and finished fourth in Serie A last term.
They also started this season well, winning their last two matches against Napoli and Genoa, but this is a big step up facing RB Leipzig.
Milla fresh blood for Como
“We worked hard to make sure we’re prepared, and when you work like this, you are closer to your objectives,” Milla told Sky Sport Italia.
“It is a young squad, but it’s well-drilled. I want to help this club to continue growing and we want to get results.”
The only injury absentee is Jayden Addai, while Maxence Caqueret and Edoardo Goldaniga did not fit on the UEFA squad list.
There were a lot of investments and changes over the summer, so Cesc Fabregas is trying to put together a combination of new signings and the players who got Como to this point.
Milla is one of only three new arrivals in the starting XI, along with Trevoh Chalobah and Yan Couto.
