AC Milan and San Siro remember Baresi, who passed away on 31 July

Before AC Milan v Venezia, every emotion centred on the memory of Franco Baresi, who passed away at the age of 66 on 31 July after a long illness. The organised fans immediately unfurled the giant flag with Baresi's number 6, then a banner that read: "FRANCO BARESI, an immortal legend, an incomparable symbol who will never stop flying. GOODBYE CAPTAIN"

AC Milan paid tribute to Baresi with a series of touching gestures: a shirt bearing the iconic No. 6 stood in the centre circle, and when the teams were read out the great Rossoneri captain's name was included too. A few minutes before kick-off, San Siro's giant screens showed a video of Franco Baresi, greeted by the fans' chant: "You'll never ealk alone".
