Milan have at least three spots to fill with potential of a fourth: How the 2026/27 UEFA squad list looks

This season, AC Milan will return to a UEFA competition, so they must provide a squad list for these games and now is a good time to look over it.

Whilst it’s not the competition that Milan wished to be a part of, they will return to playing European football this season. It’s a chance to add a new trophy to the cabinet and potentially give younger players a chance to prove themselves at an elite level with a different pressure.

In other words, there can still be benefits to the season spent in the Europa League, where the expectation is to win it.

Registration rules

Like with Serie A, there are different registration rules that must be complied with, though they’re a little more complicated. There is a first list, ‘List A’, which is made up of 17 foreign players, four trained in Italy and then four trained at the club.

In addition to this, there is a ‘List B’, for players between 15 and 21 who have spent at least two seasons at the club.

For what it’s worth, players deemed to have ‘trained at the club’ must have played for the Rossoneri for three seasons or more – it doesn’t matter if not consecutively – hence, Francesco Camarda would count.

Then, there are players who have trained in Italy; the same regulations apply, just on a broader scale.

The lists so far

At the time of writing, the Diavolo have a full squad list. The foreign list contains all the first team players you’d think of – minus Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and Christopher Nkunku and including new signing Diego Moreira – then the Italian list consists of four including Alphadjo Cisse and Koni De Winter (as he was brought up in the Juventus youth system).

Finally, Matteo Gabbia represents the final spot in ‘List A’.

However, there could still be some changes to allow recruitment.

List A – Milan-trained Players

(then presumably, Camarda, Comotto and Bartesaghi from List B) to make it 25, with all three fitting the regulations.

Four spaces to become free?

Indeed, Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez are included in the foreign players segment. Both are expected to leave and two spaces would be freed up, perhaps for a central defender and a No.10. However, Sankhoun Diawara is also on this list.

If another central defender is signed, he may not be part of the squad, opening the space for a striker, perhaps.

Then, Samuele Ricci is included on the Italian list, he’s another that could depart. Again, if he does, this would free up a slot for anyone trained in Italy for three years or more consecutively.

In theory then, whilst the list looks quite full now, there is a lot of room for movement to be made if sales are made. Of course, players can also just not be registered, so sales are not mandatory, but they’d certainly help.
