Milan eye swoop for Atalanta winger Zalewski

Milan have identified Nicola Zalewski as a potential reinforcement for their flanks, turning to the Atalanta wing-back in the closing weeks of the window.

According to Milannews.it, relaying the Bergamo edition of Corriere della Sera, Milan are in the market for wide players, a crucial component of the 3-4-2-1 favoured by Rúben Amorim.

The need becomes more pressing still with Zachary Athekame set to join Lyon on a straight loan, and Pervis Estupiñán a candidate to be sold. Several names have circulated in recent days, El Ouahdi among them, but the most recent to emerge is Zalewski.

The Pole fits the profile Amorim wants. Polish by nationality but born and raised in Italy, Zalewski came through the ranks at Roma, who launched his senior career, before a brief spell at Inter, including an appearance in the Champions League final, and a move to Atalanta last summer.

Comfortable on either flank and equally capable further forward, he offers exactly the kind of two-way versatility a wing-back system demands.
