Longoni urges Amorim to face facts regarding disappointing Milan duo
Andrea Longoni has urged Ruben Amorim to face facts regarding an AC Milan duo, deemed not good enough to wear the red and black shirt.
At the start of this season, after deciding to keep them in the summer, Amorim has placed a lot of faith in the abilities of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pervis Estupinan. Sadly, as was only confirmed against Lazio last night, none of them has been able to impress.
The Ecuadorian once again showed that he’s very mistake-prone, falling asleep at the back post twice, while the Englishman remains a player who should have everything to perform, but simply doesn’t. As such, it might be time for Amorim to face facts.
Time’s up for RLC and Estupinan
In his editorial for MilanNews, which was published shortly after the game finished at Stadio Olimpico, Andrea Longoni wrote that the duo simply cannot continue to get game time. Instead, Amorim should rely on the players who are actually performing.
“The time for experiments is over. Whoever decided to keep Estupinan and Loftus-Cheek this summer was clearly wrong. Acknowledging this now is the best thing to do.
“Amorim must learn from his mistakes. Unsolicited advice: moving Saelemaekers back to the right flank could help the team regain balance,” he wrote.
Regarding the right-hand side, Samuel Chukwueze definitely had his moments against Juventus but as pointed out by Longoni, the defensive balance isn’t always brilliant. Some answers should be provided by the gaffer against Benfica on Wednesday.
