Juventus unconcerned by Conceicao injury after Portugal substitution

Reports in Italy claim that Juventus are not overly concerned by Francisco Conceicao’s condition, despite picking up a minor injury issue while away on international duty with Portugal.

Conceicao issue not a major concern for Juventus

Conceicao started in Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League victory away against Norway on Sunday evening but came off injured after 55 minutes after a heavy challenge from Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson.

He was seen to by medical staff on the pitch, but was unable to continue and replaced by former Milan star Rafael Leao. The Juventus winger had been an unused substitute for Portugal’s 1-0 win over Wales on Thursday last week.

Reports from various outlets on Tuesday confirm that Conceicao has been struggling with a minor thigh issue, although this is not an issue that Juventus are particularly concerned by.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Conceicao has suffered bruising to his thigh, but that this is not expected to be a long-term concern. His condition will be monitored during Portugal’s training session on Tuesday as they prepare for their Nations League trip to Denmark on Thursday night.

There is a chance that Conceicao works individually for part of Tuesday’s training session, but as Di Marzio points out, the fact that he is still with the Portugal squad and has not returned to Turin is an encouraging sign.

Juventus are still without several of their key first team players through injury, including Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, who are all expected to be out until the winter at least. Summer signing Jeff Ekhator is also likely to be out until November and goalkeeper Kamil Grabara is out for the season with a cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

Randal Kolo Muani also required surgical intervention on a fractured finger, but is expected to be available immediately after the international break. Andrea Cambiaso has also returned to training and is in contention to return when Juventus take on Cagliari in their next Serie A match.
