Juventus, Perin and Di Gregorio heading for the exit: Mandas an option as Vicario’s deputy
After signing Vicario, a small revolution is taking shape among Juventus’s goalkeepers
Juventus are also preparing for changes in goal. With Guglielmo Vicario already lined up as the new first choice, the Turin club must now decide the futures of Mattia Perin and Michele Di Gregorio: at least one of the two is set to leave Turin, but both could yet end up departing.
Perin, Palermo make things more complicated
Mattia Perin remains a target for Palermo, although that move has become far less likely over the last few hours. According to Tuttosport, the main issue is financial: Juventus' asking price is considered too high by the Rosanero club.
City Football Group's strategy is also said to be affecting the negotiations, with a preference for investing in younger profiles. Palermo are still keeping the door open for the Juventus goalkeeper, but for now the deal looks more complicated than it did in recent days.
Di Gregorio: Bournemouth emerge
Michele Di Gregorio’s situation is different, but no less delicate. The former Monza player is not in Juventus' plans under the new technical project, and the club are working to find him a new destination.
Contacts with Marseille have cooled, and at this stage a permanent transfer looks complicated. In recent hours, however, Bournemouth’s interest has emerged, with the club assessing several profiles to strengthen that department.
Lazio are also said to be interested in the Italian goalkeeper, in a transfer-market scenario that could yet become particularly interesting. Juventus want to find a solution that suits all parties and allows Di Gregorio to start again at a club where he can regain continuity.
That departure would carry even more weight if Perin also leaves Turin.
Mandas emerges
With Vicario set to be first choice, Juventus would then have another spot to fill. If both goalkeepers currently in the squad leave, the club will need to identify a new No. 12.
Lazio's Christos Mandas, born in 2001, is among the profiles Juventus like, and, according to TuttoJuve.com, could be an interesting option behind Vicario, with Carlo Pinsoglio set to stay on as the 'third choice'. Much will also depend, naturally, on Lazio's moves and on the possible link with the Di Gregorio situation.
The picture is still taking shape, but this could become one of the hottest topics in the final days of the transfer window. Juventus have already chosen their new first choice. Now they just need to complete the revolution between the posts.
