The figures of the deal that takes the Canadian to Atletico Madrid

Jonathan David is swapping shirts and scenery as he leaves Juventus and flies to Spain to begin his new adventure with Atletico Madrid. The Canadian said goodbye to Turin this morning before departing for the Spanish capital.

The deal is being finalised as a loan with an option to buy set at EUR25 million, allowing Juventus to free up valuable room both in the squad and on the wage bill.

Nick Woltemade is set to arrive in Turin in place of David, with the German striker joining from Newcastle on loan. Financially, the deal should give Juventus some breathing room: David was earning around €6 million net per season plus bonuses, while Woltemade should cost around €4.4 million in wages, with a further €5 million for the loan.

Juventus are therefore changing their attacking focal point, putting their faith in the German's physicality and profile, while David looks to relaunch himself in La Liga in an Atlético shirt.
