Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti frustrated with Randal Kolo Muani after opening-day win over Frosinone
French striker draws criticism
Kolo Muani played the full 90 minutes as Juventus ground out a 1-0 win over Frosinone to kick off their Serie A campaign, with Bremer netting the only goal. The France international, who rejoined from Paris Saint-Germain after spending last season on loan at Tottenham, endured a frustrating afternoon and mustered just one shot on target from three attempts. That lack of cutting edge drew sharp frustration from Spalletti, especially after the Bianconeri racked up 20 attempts without pulling clear.
Spalletti demands rapid improvement
Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle, the Italian tactician was blunt in his assessment, urging Kolo Muani to confront his recent drop-off and rediscover his top level.
Addressing the striker's form, Spalletti said: "We went and got Kolo, we've looked after him and we know what his value is. But he has to realise that he hasn't played for two years and there must be a reason for that. Sometimes you think you're at an exceptional level but you've left something behind that you need to go and get back."
Turin club hunts reinforcements
Spalletti also confirmed that Juventus are actively scouring the transfer market for another centre-forward to offer different attributes and a sharper cutting edge in the final third. Discussing his side's attacking needs, Spalletti explained: "These are matches in which you have to take goals home because the spaces are in your favour. The striker we’re looking for might have different characteristics. Today the spaces were there but we weren't able to exploit them.
"I would have preferred the team to show it has an identity, and it did that. At certain moments we're a bit light, we're not good at bringing that determination. But it can happen, especially at the start. We'll work on it."
Attacking consistency remains crucial
The narrow win keeps up an exceptional opening-day run for Juventus, marking 14 victories across their last 16 season openers alongside five consecutive clean sheets. Even so, sharpening up in the final third stands as an urgent priority for Spalletti before the transfer window shuts. Kolo Muani now faces immediate pressure to deliver, with the club actively pursuing attacking reinforcements ahead of deadline day.
