Inzaghi admits Inter ‘above the rest’ but believes in Amorim: “Hope Milan get back into the fight”

Filippo Inzaghi knows what it means to win, having experienced the highest of highs with AC Milan. However, they’re not at that level again yet.

There are few players who know about the highs and lows of Milan like Inzaghi. As a player, he saw both sides, the highs of Athens and the lows of Istanbul. When you add his experience as a coach, though, you truly know he understands the lows.

His record on the pitch hasn’t yet been replicated on the touchline and perhaps it never will. However, he remains a legend for Milanisti, who remember his greatest moments with joy whenever possible.

Inzaghi looks at Milan now and then

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Inzaghi looked at the current title situation, as MilanNews relayed.

“I think Inter, in terms of squad and quality, are above the rest. But Gasperini’s Roma are impressing me and I think they can have their say until the end. I also believe that Juventus, without the Champions League, can get back into the game. I hope Milan get back into the fight for the title.

“Then I imagine that Como, more so than Napoli, can compete, even if it won’t be easy. Finally, I would like to underline the enormous work that Rino Gattuso is doing at Lazio in a context that is, among other things, not easy.”

The Italian was also asked about his experiences in the top flight, especially about his time spent as the coach of the Diavolo, and whether he has any regrets about his managerial career.

“Regrets? You win and you lose. Everything has helped me grow, and I’m confident I’m a better coach than a few years ago and that I can become better than I am today in a few years. There’s no room for regrets in football.

Coaching Palermo in Serie A too? I’d love that. I felt great at Palermo from day one. There was an immense display of affection towards me. And I’m grateful to the people. I applauded immediately without having done anything, but also after the match against Catanzaro, when the fans were extraordinary even though we hadn’t reached the final.

“That applause was one of the most moving moments of my coaching career. The team and I know we absolutely have to repay them.”
