Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito scored Italy’s third goal in a 3-1 Nations League win over Turkey, reaching seven senior international goals at 21 or under – a mark previously achieved only by Giuseppe Meazza.

Africa Soccer reported that Esposito came on for Gianluca Scamacca in the 55th minute of the Group A match at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna. He struck in the 87th minute to complete the scoring and add another milestone to his Italy record.

The goal also adds to the growing story of Pio Esposito on the international stage. The historic comparison in the report draws on Opta data.

Esposito Joins Meazza in Italy’s Historical Scoring List

Meazza scored his seventh Italy goal on 25 January 1931, aged 20 years and 155 days. Esposito is therefore second in the age-based comparison: he has reached seven by 21, but has not equalled Meazza’s younger age at the milestone.

The distinction is precise, and significant. The report identifies Esposito as only the second Italian player to score seven senior international goals aged 21 or under.

Italy’s victory moved the Azzurri to seven points and second place in the group, three behind France. Belgium had six points, while Turkey remained without a point.

Esposito’s goal strengthened an already notable early international record, while Italy took a valuable result in the group. His rise at Inter has also drawn attention, with Pio Esposito increasingly central to the club’s plans.
