Inter will tie Dimarco down: clause activated, then a more substantial renewal
First the public "request", then the meeting, now the club will make the next move.
Inter will still have Federico Dimarco at their disposal in the team of the future. At least next season, and with the aim of going much, much further.
In recent days, the issue of extending his deal, which is due to expire on 30 June 2027 has come to the fore, helped too by his public remarks on the evening of the Gran Galà del Calcio. In these hours, also thanks to the meeting with his agent, the Nerazzurri have got moving and mapped out their next steps.
One more year
When Inter signed the Italian full-back on 30 December 2023, they secured the option to unilaterally extend the deal, which was due to expire on 30 June 2027, by a further season.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the club from Viale della Liberazione have already exercised that option ahead of time, pushing the new expiry date back to 30 June 2028 and giving themselves more time to act.
The meeting in Madrid with the agent
Dario Baccin and Arturo Canales met in Madrid at the hotel where the team were staying. Baccin is the new sporting director, promoted after Piero Ausilio's departure, while Canales is the player's new agent. The meeting gave them a chance to get to know each other and start outlining the club's plans for the Inter full-back.
Inter’s proposal
The stance imposed by the American owners has forced Inter's directors to take a cautious approach with any contract offers for players over 25.
For Baccin and Marotta, the plan is to offer the full-back a long-term contract, but one that inevitably cannot include a significant rise in the fixed part of his salary. Instead, there will be plenty of scope to work on individual and team bonuses.
Dimarco wants to stay
Federico Dimarco's outburst at the Gran Galà del Calcio caused a stir: "At the moment unfortunately we haven’t spoken about it, I hoped it would happen given how last season ended, but there will be a chance to do so soon."
His love for Inter and his desire to stay nerazzurro for life are no secret, and in recent days he has again told the club he is willing to align himself with its plans. He did expect, and still expects, a reward and recognition after becoming Serie A's MVP, with two more titles in the trophy cabinet and, above all, his goals and assists playing a decisive part.
