Inter Join Barcelona, EPL Giants for Stuttgart Talent
Inter got only slightly younger defensively in the summer and have earmarked Finn Jeltsch to bring in fresh legs at the position in the future. The Nerazzurri parted ways with Stefano Acerbi, Stefan De Vrij, and Matteo Darmian, but signed John Stones and kept Benjamin Pavard, who aren’t spring chickens.
Per Sky Sports Deutschland, their scouts observed the youngster during the recent UEFA Champions League clash between Stuttgart and Viking. They weren’t the lone ones, though, as some Barcelona representatives were also in attendance. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also monitoring the starlet.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Jeltsch is considered a surefire prospect by Inter and several other European powerhouses. That has already driven his price tag up to €40M. In addition, he’s under contract long-term, until 2030.
His current team made a relatively big splash to sign him from Nürnberg, paying €9.5M when he was only 18. The outlay is bound to bear fruit. He has featured 57 times with them thus far, providing 2 assists. He has been called up by Germany during the first break but has yet to debut for the senior team.
The Nerazzurri will get another close look at the center-back in late November. The two teams will meet in the fourth round of the league phase of the top continental competition.
Our Take on Inter and Jeltsch
They should definitely sign a youngster next summer, as it feels like Pavard stayed only because they couldn’t find the right guy in the previous window. However, it’s been a long time since they spent more than €30M on a player, and they generally shy away from bidding wars.
