According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the pairing brings together the Scudetto and Coppa Italia winners, Inter, against Lazio, beaten finalists in this season’s Coppa Italia. The Nerazzurri go into the final having already lifted both major domestic trophies last term, leaving Lazio as the challengers looking to prevent a clean sweep.

Supercoppa Returns to San Siro After Years Abroad

The decision ends four consecutive Saudi-hosted editions of the competition, the last three of which used the Final Four format pitting the top two Serie A finishers against the two Coppa Italia finalists. That structure has been scrapped for this campaign, with Lega Serie A opting instead for a straight, winner-takes-all final on Italian soil.

As the venue for this final had remained unsettled in recent weeks, San Siro had already emerged as the leading option, and that scenario has now been made official by the league.

Playing host also carries its own significance for Inter beyond the fixture itself, given the stadium’s growing importance to the club’s commercial plans. For now, though, the focus is straightforward: Inter and Lazio will settle the Supercoppa Italiana in one game, at the Meazza, on December 22.
