“I’m very happy at Milan” – Pulisic suggests contract talks will begin ‘hopefully soon’
Christian Pulisic has offered a strong implication that he is open to extending his contract with AC Milan, amid the recent talk in the media that negotiations will resume soon.
Pulisic has been Milan’s star performance since his arrival from Chelsea, but 2026 has been a strange year for him. He went goalless from December 28 onwards as the Rossoneri collapsed in the second half of the season, then the World Cup didn’t go to plan either.
Returning to Milan, there were doubts swirling about his future with a contract expiring at the end of the season (plus a one-year club option). However, he broke his goal drought before the current break with a beautiful goal, and now there is talk of the desire for a long-term extension.
Pulisic spoke to Sky on the sidelines of a meet and greet event with fans at a club store in the city centre, with his words relayed by MilanNews.
You scored an extraordinary goal against Lecce after a difficult start to the season…
“It was a strange start to the season. I was returning from an injury, I wanted to play. It took time, I worked with the team and the coach and I managed to get back on the pitch.”
Do you like the nickname Captain America?
“Only the media calls me that. It doesn’t bother me… it’s a cool nickname.”
Has the real Pulisic returned?
“I’ve always felt good. It wasn’t really about the goals. I hope to find that form again. I feel good and I hope to continue like this.”
What’s your relationship with Amorim?
“I have a good relationship with him. We’re all learning his system, how he wants to play. I’m very positive about him. The last match was perhaps one of the best, we want to keep it up.”
What does Amorim ask of you specifically?
“I think he wants us to find certain positions, especially when we have the ball. He wants us to play a certain way, make certain movements. Obviously, there’s also freedom in attack, but there are principles and positions to follow. We’re working well.”
Would you like to stay at Milan?
“I’m very happy at Milan. The club is giving me everything, it’s helped me a lot. Now I’m focused on playing, we’ll talk about it, hopefully soon. I feel really good and I hope to stay at Milan.”
What more can you say about Ramos?
“Playing with him is fantastic. He works so hard, he helps the team defensively. He runs for 90 minutes, he never stops. I’m not worried about him, the goals will come.”
What can we learn from Luka Modric?
“He’s an example. Everything he does, on the pitch, in the games, how he controls the ball, his play. He’s 41, he’s doing what he does, he’s in great shape. As a professional, there are so many things we can learn from him.”
Seven games in 21 days are coming: how are you doing, and are you training hard after this break and feeling 100% fit?
“I feel good. I’ve worked hard these past few weeks. Now the important part of this season begins. I need to be ready and hope to play as many games as possible, and I’m looking forward to this period.”
