Italy international Wilfried Gnonto is set for his first experience in Serie A as Fiorentina have reportedly agreed a deal to sign him on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Leeds United.

Gnonto set to join Fiorentina from Leeds

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and various others on Monday morning, Fiorentina have agreed a deal to sign Gnonto on loan with an option to buy from Leeds. La Viola are expected to cover the player’s salary in full for the duration of his loan spell.

The 13-time Italy international is expected to arrive in Tuscany for his medical and contract signing by Monday evening according to the latest reports.

Fiorentina are also expecting to bring in Beto from Everton at a cost of around €20m to replace the Como-bound Moise Kean.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, a deal for Gnonto will also free up Fiorentina’s Albert Gudmundsson, who is of interest to several Serie A clubs in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window.

Despite being born in Italy and having been on Inter’s books for eight years as a youngster, Gnonto has never previously played in Serie A. He moved to Zurich at the beginning of his senior career in 2020 before joining Leeds in 2022, where he has remained ever since.

The 22–year-old has scored 23 goals from 147 appearances across all competitions for Leeds over the last four seasons.
