GdS: ‘Pulisic says yes’ – why Milan’s renewal hopes have been strongly boosted
Christian Pulisic offered strong encouragement to AC Milan regarding the possibility of a contract renewal with his most recent comments.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall that Pulisic was at a meet and greet event last night. His biggest smile appeared when a young fan gave him a personalised red and black wristband, a moment reminiscent of what happened with Rafael Leão last year.
Now, the key for Pulisic is ensuring his season unfolds more smoothly than Leao’s did last time around. Not that it would take much to improve on that. After all, while there is no major news regarding a contract renewal at the moment, Christian’s words are certainly worth highlighting.
“I’m very happy to be at Milan, both right now and looking toward the future. Honestly, I’m not thinking about a renewal at this exact moment, but I do want to stay here. Are we discussing it with the club? Yes,” he said.
Cardinale can therefore afford to wait confidently, at least judging by the words of the USA international. On the RedBird chief, Pulisic added: “We see him more often this year; he’s working hard, and we always have his support.”
Cardinale has always viewed Pulisic as a cornerstone for rebuilding the new Milan. He is an icon for the Diavolo and back home in the United States. His contract runs until 2027, and while Milan have a one-year option, the aim is to extend it beyond 2028.
Drought over, renewal next
This is a strange international break for Pulisic, who is used to getting on a plane to the USA to reach his national team’s training camp. This time is an exception, and it’s an exception that Milan obviously do not mind.
In agreement with coach Mauricio Pochettino, Christian remained working at Milanello to avoid further trouble. Until a few weeks ago he was carrying the after-effects of the microfracture of the fibula in his right leg suffered in July in the round of 16 of the World Cup against Belgium.
In the past, among other things, there had already been some discontent regarding the management of the No.11 in the national team from a medical point of view. This is why Milan are particularly appreciative regarding recent events.
After the first three games of the season spent entirely watching from the bench, he returned to the pitch vs. Lazio (assisting Diego Moreira’s first goal) and blossomed in the following match against Lecce, scoring his first official goal of 2026. It confirmed Captain America as one of the pillars of the team.
On his condition, Pulisic added: “I feel very good, especially after scoring. It was a good goal actually. My legs after the injury are starting to work again, I’m getting back into shape. With Amorim we are working very well in terms of team, the experience is positive. I have a good relationship with him.”
Amorim a few weeks ago had defined him as ‘p*ssed off’ because he wasn’t playing. “It was a bit strange for me at the beginning of the season, it’s clear that I always wanted to play, but it’s not like I was p*ssed off at him,” laughed Pulisic.
“But it’s true that I was coming back from injury. But now I feel good and I hope to be able to play a bit more. The number 10 shirt is free? I didn’t think about it, I’m actually very happy with the 11.” Now, everything points towards the extension of his time with Milan.
