GdS: Milan to work on two crucial renewals as Cardinale begins discussions

Now the summer window has closed and the squad is locked in, the AC Milan management are hoping to secure two key renewals.

La Gazzetta dello Sport published a larger piece about Milan’s new transfer strategy and the willingness to pay more for quality. Within it, they mention a possible January move for Goncalo Inacio, having been close to landing him for €40m on deadline day.

While waiting to see if there will be any other signings in the winter, the club will work on the renewals of Adrien Rabiot and Strahinja Pavlovic in the coming weeks. Owner Gerry Cardinale has already spoken with them and other players about their future.

Another of the players he spoke to was Alexis Saelemaekers, who was the subject of an offer from Atalanta that was rejected. He’s deemed too important to the team’s balance to be let go. Whether starting or coming off the bench, the Belgian always provides the right energy.

Regarding players that are not part of the planned, even in the future the same approach will be followed as for Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, and Santiago Gimenez, meaning they will no longer work with the squad if not wanted.

Fofana, who refused to go to Turkey (either to Galatasaray or Besiktas), was convinced at the last minute to accept Sevilla because he realised he would be in the stands until January otherwise.
