GdS: Milan monitoring Standard Liege starlet on expiring deal – the situation
AC Milan are apparently scouting another young player on the European scene: Ange-Gabriel Kokora of Standard Liege.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Milan had a representative present to watch Granada in action on September 12. They were there to watch one teenager, but another ended up catching their eye too.
The paper (via MilanVibes) adds that Ange-Gabriel Kokor is being closely monitored by Milan scouts and those of several European clubs, including Marseille and Real Betis. He plays for SL16 FC, the reserve/U23 squad of Standard that plays in the third-tier Belgian National Division.
The Belgium youth national team star – with Ivorian roots and a contract expiring at the end of 2027 – represents an incredibly tempting opportunity. Milan could potentially sign him for a development fee and include him in the Milan Futuro project.
He turns 19 on January 1st and is considered a player with potential, although so far he has only been tested with the first team in the final quarter of an hour of the friendly at the end of July, played against Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus.
Milan are currently monitoring the player’s profile with a view to adding him to their own second team, even though competition from several teams could make him more tempted by the idea of being immediately added to a first team squad.
Standing 190cm tall and able to play both as a central defender and in front of the defence, he built his youth career starting at Mechelen, moving on to Gent and finally arriving at Standard Liège in 2019.
