In 2026, Gerry Cardinale has become much more involved where AC Milan are concerned and the club’s owner can take a lot of credit for this.

Over the past few years, Cardinale has certainly not been the most popular figure at Milan. Unfortunately, there is no hiding from that. Complaints were about several things, but a big gripe for many was the lack of personal involvement.

For example, the absence from big games or even just not regularly being at Milanello. So, the fact that he has been a regular at the training ground this summer – if not just this year, generally – is a huge thing.

Cardinale’s Sunday as Milan beat Torino

This afternoon, Cardinale has been deemed a ‘true Rossoneri fan’ by MilanPress, something which very few would’ve said in recent years. However, his new approach is giving him another chance to reinvent himself in front of the fans.

On Sunday – as Gazzetta dello Sport reported, and was relayed in the MilanPress piece – Cardinale opted to experience the game up close. At the end of the warm-up, he waited for players to send them into the dressing room with some positive reinforcement.

Then, he celebrated with them at the end of the game, personally congratulating each member of the team in the dressing room.

It’s going to be a continued theme, too, it seems. The Diavolo’s owner will be at Milanello during the week, too, before returning to San Siro for the home opener against Venezia. It’s an incredibly welcome change from Cardinale, it must be said.
