GdS: ‘Amorim trusts’ – Hutchinson struggles in Milan opening but time remains

When AC Milan signed Omari Hutchinson, the reaction was not overly positive. A left-footed No.10 had been signed, but he wasn’t the ideal.

Hutchinson needed to hit the ground running to get Milan fans onside. Unfortunately for him, fans had expected something more from the signing of an attacking midfielder. So when he arrived, most felt a little underwhelmed.

So far, he’s done little to change that feeling, but he’s far from a lost cause.

Hutchinson in need of time

This morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Hutchinson has shown that he has talent. However, he has yet to really hone it. It’s a small sample size, of course, but so far the signs haven’t been overwhelmingly positive as the Rossoneri would hope.

After all, he was brought in to fill one of the most important positions in the squad and he’s yet to show that he will be a consistent starter.

The counter is that both games he’s played in, he’s not had an ‘easy’ opportunity. Both the comeback against Lazio and the Europa League opener against Benfica were difficult games and he was never given a chance to really impress.

Like others in the squad, his moments will have to be picked perfectly, but he also needs to show more. Ruben Amorim trusts him, though, and that means that his chance should come.
