Footy Headlines: Adidas secure ‘blockbuster’ deal with Italian club – Milan suggestions emerge
Speculation is underway that AC Milan could be in line for a change in kit manufacturer amid news that Adidas have a big deal lines up.
According to Footy Headlines, Adidas are ‘continuing their massive push across European football by securing another blockbuster agreement in Italy’. The brand with the three stripes have ‘locked in a long-term partnership deal in Italy’.
The report adds: “Adidas has been adding various club and national teams in the past 2-3 years, as well as leagues such as the Bundesliga, to its portfolio. 2027 will see another big Adidas signing in football, this time in Italy.”
The identity of the club in question that the new agreement is with remains unknown for the time being. However in order for it to be a big deal one would think it would have to be a top club. Juventus and Roma already have Adidas, while Inter are locked in long-term with Nike.
Milan back with Adidas?
Milan’s current Puma deal runs until 2028, so if the mystery club were the Rossoneri, an agreement could still be announced in advance and only take effect once the PUMA contract expires. In essence, it may be revealed in 2027, ahead of time.
Adidas have made Milan’s kits during three distinct historical periods: 1978–1980, 1990–1993, and their most famous long-term partnership spanning 1998 to 2018. Since then it has been PUMA, who extended their deal with a big bump in revenue back in 2022.
With the arrival of Massimo Calvelli onto the board of directors, there have been rumours about a potential change in kit supplier, with Nike also mentioned given the now-CEO’s links there.
