Ferguson close to Genoa switch as Brighton accept loan proposal
Genoa and Brighton have reached an agreement over a loan move for Evan Ferguson, with the Republic of Ireland striker set for a return to Serie A.
According to Sky Sport, the deal will see Ferguson join on loan with Brighton covering 30% of his wages, and he isn’t expected to be available until early October.
Ferguson set for third loan in two years
The move continues a pattern for the Irishman, who has been farmed out repeatedly since establishing himself at Brighton, following a difficult spell at West Ham in early 2025 and a season at Roma last year, where an ankle injury limited him to 16 league appearances and just three goals.
Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa have been searching for a recognised centre-forward after a summer of departures left the club short up front, and are prepared to be patient with Ferguson’s recovery in the hope of getting the best of a player once considered one of the Premier League’s brightest young strikers.
