Falk: Milan battling Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur for Kim but January move unlikely

In recent months, it has been clear that AC Milan want to sign another central defender and one name is gaining traction quickly.

Goncalo Inacio seems to be the name on everyone’s lips ahead of the January mercato and he would make sense. After all, Ruben Amorim has pleaded for him for several months. However, he isn’t the only option being looked at.

In fact, there are several others, with some having experience in Italy, which would be appealing to Milan. It won’t be the be-all and end-all.

Milan appreciate Kim

Speaking to CFBayern Insider, Christian Falk revealed that the Rossoneri are indeed interested in signing another defender next summer and bringing Kim Min-Jae back to Italy is among their ideas, as MilanNews relays.

“I can confirm that Bayern Munich will be the first club with whom the player will initiate any negotiations. However, everything will depend on several factors: what will Bayern’s offer be in the fall, when his future will be discussed?

“Will they offer Min-jae Kim a new contract? Or will he remain among the players the club would consider selling to raise money? This is why other clubs are keeping an eye on Kim. Aston Villa are interested, and I understand that Tottenham and AC Milan are also evaluating the South Korean international.

“In fact, the three clubs in question had already made contact regarding Kim in the summer, but in the end, no concrete offer was made. So at the moment, there is nothing concrete. I don’t expect a transfer in January or anything like that.

“Everything will depend on what Bayern Munich communicates to Kim during the contract negotiations this year.”

With his deal up in 2028, Bayern do not need to rush into renewal talks. However, his value will only decrease from here if he does not sign an extension. His situation will be one to watch and as Falk says, there is plenty of interest.
