Di Marzio: Milan in no rush to replace Leao with Amorim content – the strategy

AC Milan will be in no rush to replace Rafael Leao if he does leave, because the targets on the list are not available.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan and Leao are about to part ways, we just need to see if he will head to Turkey or England. Galatasaray reached a verbal agreement with Milan yesterday, although there’s now the issue of bank guarantees. Regardless, the player hasn’t yet accepted their contract offer of €10m plus €2m in bonuses.

Aston Villa’s bid is €42m plus €3m, with the English club making a sizeable offer to Milan overnight and they may be willing to increase further too. The proposal to the player is €7m net per year, and Leao is now deciding which of the two options to pursue.

As of now, Milan do not seem inclined to replace Leao. This is not because they’re unwilling to spend – with Gerry Cardinale showing there is money available – but rather based on the current considerations regarding strategy.

Alpadjo Cissè started the season very well and is a ‘natural’ replacement as a right-footed player on the left side. In addition to that, a few of the possible targets appear unavailable at this stage of the window.

Amorim is very satisfied with the squad he has available and isn’t pushing for another player, Di Marzio adds, but the door remains slightly open for any opportunities.
