Daily Briefing: Milan ‘long-time admirers’ of unsettled Man Utd centre-back
AC Milan are one of the clubs monitoring the situation surrounding Manchester United defender Leny Yoro, a report claims.
Yoro is one of the names that Milan were linked with in their pursuit of a second centre-back signing in the summer window, although there was nothing too concrete. With another defender being eyed, it seems the management could try again, especially given Jorge Mendes is his agent.
Leny Yoro: Milan, Real Madrid and others watching
According to the Daily Briefing, Manchester United are in the market for a new central defender with Como’s Jacobo Ramon emerging as one of their top targets. They are searching for reinforcements due to ‘concerns over Leny Yoro’.
What concerns? A host of Europe’s top clubs are keen on signing the 20-year-old Frenchman, with a source stating: “Leny Yoro is concerned about his role, there’ll be talks soon to clarify the situation, but clubs have taken this as a clear message that he’s ready to consider offers.
“PSG have the strongest interest, and that dates back to Yoro’s time in France. But from within the Premier League, Arsenal could also be a serious option to watch.”
Real Madrid have been linked previously but have gone cold for now, while Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan are mentioned as ‘long-time admirers’. As a reminder, Ruben Amorim worked with Yoro during his time at Old Trafford, so he knows his system and playing style well.
Despite this update, ‘some sources close to United’ have played down the idea of an exit, instead insisting that Yoro is ‘still seen as someone who can compete and win his place back in Michael Carrick’s side’.
The signing of another centre-back by the Red Devils – coupled with a continued lack of starts – could see this situation change in view of the winter window.
