CorSport: ‘Haven’t given up’ – Inacio waiting for Milan to make €40m January move

In the summer, Goncalo Inacio’s name regularly dominated talk of potential additions. AC Milan were unsuccessful then, but they hope not to be in a few months.

Signing another central defender would’ve probably taken Milan’s mercato rating up a few notches; it’s undeniable. It was a position which the Rossoneri knew they needed to recruit in and one name remained consistent throughout the summer.

Yet, Inacio never arrived and the club were left looking ahead before the window was even fully done.

As Corriere dello Sport wrote this morning, via MilanNews, the Portuguese club couldn’t agree to a move in August due to the timing of the move. A late push was made on deadline day, but Sporting’s inability to sort a replacement ruled a deal out.

However, they ‘haven’t given up’ on him at Casa Milan and still see him as the one. In fact, they’re already trying to sign him again in January and the same €40 million offer will be sent to Portugal. This time, they’re hoping for the approval that never arrived last time.

Sharing an agent with Ruben Amorim – who is far from a secret admirer of the central defender – a move could be boosted by the existing relations. There is still time to go until January, but the Rossoneri already seem assured of who they want.
