One of the keys to Juventus vs. Milan tonight will be which of the new signings is able to show they were worth the investment.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) write this morning, Juventus-Milan will not only be a big match, but also the first real test for two teams that made significant (and necessary) investments in their attack during the recently concluded summer transfer window.

The spotlight will be on Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, symbols of two ambitious transfers and inevitably sky-high expectations. On the one hand, the Portuguese has become the most expensive signing in Milan’s history, while Juve paid a lot to bring the Frenchman back.

The pressure to deliver

Milan built their attacking plan around Ramos, acquired for €74m from Paris Saint-Germain, a figure set to rise with bonuses. Gerry Cardinale wanted to give Ruben Amorim a centre-forward capable of scoring goals, pressing, link-up play and being a consistent presence in the penalty area.

On the other hand, Kolo Muani could cost up to €53m, including bonuses. Juventus also invested heavily in other attacking players this summer, confirming a clear choice: to raise the bar through quality, depth, and physicality up front.

The match will also be interesting tactically. Amorim is asking Milan to play vertically, press high, and move around Ramos, who remains to be seen who will support him (Saelemaekers and Rabiot are ahead of Cisse and Loftus-Cheek). Chukwueze will operate on the flank, awaiting Diego Moreira’s permanent inclusion.

Spalletti will try to exploit Kolo Muani with Boga and Conceiçao on the flanks, maintaining a high defensive line to stifle the Milan players’ transitions. Given this, the question is very simple: which of the two teams will be able to convert millions of investments and expectations into goals?
