CM: Lontani scores first Serie A goal for Parma – why he left Milan this summer

Simone Lontani scored his first ever Serie A goal this afternoon for Parma, with AC Milan having let him go this summer.

Parma climbed off the bottom of the Serie A table and earned their first point of the season, drawing 1-1 with Monza at the Tardini. The away team had taken the lead through Jay Robinson – his first top flight goal too – before Lontani netted to earn a draw.

It started with a snaking run into the box by the Italian, and a shot blocked by Thiam. The ball was then worked back to him and he slotted it into the bottom corner, beating Corvi in the Monza goal. It comes after he scored a brace in the Coppa Italia, too.

The farewell to Milan

Lontani became a new Parma player this summer, leaving Milan after his contract expired. He was one of the stars of Milan Primavera last season, scoring 10 goals in 21 appearances for them and getting a few games for the Futuro.

However, the paths of Milan and Lontani then separated. The young Cesena native chose not to continue his adventure with the Rossoneri, rejecting any possible offer of an extension, and decided to accept the advances and plans of Parma.

The Ducali offered him the chance to play in Serie A and gain the playing time, trust, and playing time he would not have found in Milan’s first team. After Alessandro Longoni and Mattia Liberali, it is another young talent who has left due to their contract situations.
