CM: Atalanta made attempt for Saelemaekers but Milan rejected instantly

After having a mainstay role under Massimiliano Allegri, Alexis Saelemaekers’ position in the AC Milan team under Ruben Amorim is not so certain.
It is not to say that the Belgian won’t be a starter at all this season; that would be going a step too far. However, he certainly isn’t as guaranteed a place as he was last year. At right wing-back, Amorim prefers Samuel Chukwueze and a shift into attacking midfield sees him facing plenty of competition.
So, he may be something of a luxury player for Portuguese this season.
Atalanta’s Saelemaekers attempt

The Belgian winger was a target for the Bergamese outfit and Cristiano Giuntoli had spoken to the club about the possibility of a move.
However, the Diavolo shut him down instantly. The Belgian is heavily liked internally, especially by Ruben Amorim for his flexibility across the pitch and the options he provides.
Considering how late in the mercato it is, too, any deal to part with Saelemaekers would’ve had to have been lucrative. There is no interest in losing him for any fee, though, it seems, especially after Friday’s performance…
