Bild: Milan and Inter attentive as centre-back considers January Dortmund exit
Luca Reggiani could leave Borussia Dortmund due to a lack of playing time, and AC Milan have once again been linked.
Calciomercato.com write that the news comes directly the German source Bild, who claim that Reggiani – who is struggling to get regular games for Dortmund – is now considering leaving in the winter transfer window.
The idea of a potential move back to his home country could gain momentum. Inter and Milan already had talks last summer and Reggiani would not rule out a return to Italy, where he only played in the Sassuolo youth team before moving to Borussia Dortmund.
Niko Kovac decided to focus on Reggiani last year: from February to the end of the season he made eight league appearances, six of which were as a starter, and one in the Champions League as a starter versus Atalanta.
The investiture was clear, so much so that Reggiani even managed to find the goal against Augsburg in his second start, becoming the youngest Italian ever – at 18 years and 64 days – to score in the Bundesliga.
This year, however, things have changed. The 2008-born centre-back played just 27 minutes in the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim and 23 against HEBC Hamburg in the German Cup.
Many clubs have expressed interest, including Inter and Milan. The Germans are not closed off to the idea of negotiating: according to Bild, they would even be open to a sale in the event of a suitable offer.
In addition to the two Milanese clubs, there was also interest from Southampton, who submitted an offer shortly before the transfer window closed, but the transfer did not come to fruition.
Reggiani strongly wanted to stay at Borussia Dortmund this summer to try and prove his worth after the opportunities he had last year. So far, however, he has had little opportunity, and according to the German newspaper the next few weeks will be crucial to see where he ends up.
