“Beautiful to watch” – Cardinale’s gamble paying off as Milan clip makes the rounds

Gerry Cardinale hired Ruben Amorim as the new AC Milan head coach to offer more attractive football, and so far, the Rossoneri are moving in the right direction.

Milan were often criticised for the dull and pragmatic football last season, led by Massimiliano Allegri, who isn’t exactly known for Tiki-Taka football. Quite the opposite, and there’s even a name for it: Corto Muso. While that got the Rossoneri some results, it didn’t bring in new fans.

So, when Cardinale commented on the appointment of Amorim at the first press conference, he made it very clear that things were going to change: “It must be exciting football, beautiful to watch. We want to play to win,” he said.

Recognition around the world

Amorim still needs time to get some tactical aspects right, that much is clear, but we are seeing some very positive signings already. Several videos of nice passing sequences from the first five league games have been making the rounds on social media, but nothing beats the most recent one.

Adrien Rabiot’s goal against Lecce, which doubled the Rossoneri’s lead, was the result of a long passing sequence, starting with Mario Gila at the back. It was truly a nice goal and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by football fans around the world.

On X, the video that Lega Serie A published now has a whopping 9.4m views, and that’s without counting Facebook and Instagram views. Not to mention that some have shared other videos of the same sequence that weren’t published by Serie A.

The point is that Milan are getting attention around the world for their attractive style of play, which is one of the best forms of marketing. Above all, it’s exactly what Cardinale wanted when he decided to go against the critics and hire Amorim in the summer.

Again, there is still a lot of work to be done, but Milan are moving in the right direction and could get even more fans because of that.
