Badiashile edges closer to Napoli as Chelsea talks continue
Chelsea and Napoli are close to an agreement on a loan move for Benoit Badiashile with an option to buy, but the transfer has not yet been completed.
Report and deal status
According to Foot Mercato, Napoli have made significant progress in negotiations with Chelsea over a loan deal for Badiashile that includes an option to buy. The report says the clubs are close to reaching an agreement, while stressing that the transfer is not yet complete.
Journalist Luca Cerchione has reported an agreement in principle between the clubs for a loan worth €3 million, with an option to buy set at roughly €20 million plus bonuses. Further talks are scheduled this week to finalise the terms, and Badiashile is reportedly open to a move to Serie A.
Badiashile’s Chelsea situation
Badiashile joined Chelsea from Monaco in January 2023. He has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge, with injuries and squad depth limiting his opportunities.
The defender made eight Premier League appearances during the 2025/26 campaign. Chelsea are reportedly willing to sanction a temporary exit as Napoli look to strengthen their defence.
The proposed loan structure
The preferred framework for both clubs is a loan with an option to buy. Under the reported terms, Napoli would take Badiashile on loan initially and would have the option to make the move permanent.
The proposed buyout would be set at roughly €20 million plus bonuses, according to the report. The final details remain subject to further discussions between the clubs.
What happens next
Although an agreement in principle has been reported, the deal has not been formally completed. The scheduled talks are intended to finalise the remaining terms.
Until those discussions are concluded and the transfer is confirmed, Badiashile’s proposed move to Napoli remains close but unfinished.
