Atlético push to bring Nico González back as Juventus hold firm on price

Atlético Madrid are pushing to bring Nico González back to the Spanish capital, but Juventus are holding firm on their asking price for the Argentine.

According to Tuttosport, González is desperate to reunite with Diego Simeone, with whom he spent last season on loan at Atlético.

The winger returned to training at Continassa this week and will rejoin the group, but is understood to feel as though he is only passing through, pushing to return to Spain even after recent talks with the Argentine coach.

The decision now lies with Atlético: Juventus have set a price of around €30m and have no intention of lowering it, despite the mounting pressure to sell. Should the Colchoneros want González badly enough, the belief in Turin is that a compromise satisfying all parties can be found.

The González situation is part of a broader need for Juventus to generate income and be flexible on formulas.

Marseille, in particular, are circling: their emissaries were spotted in Turin, monitoring both goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and defender Federico Gatti, two players who could yet leave for the right offer.

Others remain in the balance. Jonathan David, courted by Aston Villa, is in no rush to accept the first project put in front of him, while Arkadiusz Milik and Arthur are also among those whose futures are uncertain.

Fabio Miretti, by contrast, would happily move on for regular football, but neither Bologna nor Lazio followed through on their interest. With the market set to accelerate after Ferragosto, Juventus are braced for a hectic final fortnight, one in which their outgoings will shape everything that follows.
