Arsenal delay forces press conference cancellation for Napoli match

Arsenal won’t hold their traditional pre-match press conference, as they haven’t even arrived in Italy yet ahead of their Champions League match with Napoli, and could face further problems tomorrow.

It is scheduled to take place at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday evening, and coach Mikel Arteta plus a player were therefore due to speak at a press conference this evening.

Arsenal run into travel problems

That was set for 18.15 UK time (19.15 CEST), but has been cancelled after the Gunners were delayed by travel chaos that affected London airports Heathrow and Gatwick.

UEFA are likely to fine Arsenal for the missed press conference, but that might not be the end of their problems.

CalcioNapoli24 point out that the Premier League winners have chosen an unusual site for their pre-match hotel stay in Naples.

Rather than be in the city centre or alongside the sea front, they will be staying at the Voco Hotel in the Vulcano Buono di Nola resort.

It will guarantee Arsenal peace and quiet, but might also mean a much longer and riskier journey to the stadium on Wednesday, as the traffic on match day in Naples can be somewhat brutal and unpredictable.
