Anguissa renewal talks stall as Napoli weigh age and fitness
Juventus and Inter are monitoring Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, with his future at the Partenopei increasingly uncertain and Milan also tracking developments. Napoli are reportedly struggling to keep hold of the Cameroonian, and no side has yet moved beyond watching the situation.
Tuttosport report that talks between Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna and Anguissa’s agent have not gone well. The two sides remain some distance apart on a renewal, and there is no indication yet of when, or whether, that gap will close.
Why Napoli’s midfield situation has caught rivals’ attention
Anguissa’s contract uncertainty gives Inter and Juventus a potential opening at a rival still inside Serie A, rather than a foreign move that would require competing with clubs abroad. Juventus have already shown willingness to shop in Naples for central midfield reinforcements, having previously explored a move for Stanislav Lobotka.
Napoli’s own doubts are not only financial. The club holds real concerns over Anguissa’s fitness, with injury issues reported to have increased over the last two seasons, complicating any decision to commit long-term money to a player in his thirties.
Milan also watching, but no formal move reported
Inter and Juventus are said to be the two clubs most actively monitoring the situation, though Milan are following it as well. None of the three has been reported to have made an approach, and the interest for now amounts to surveillance rather than a concrete race. Juventus’ own midfield has faced fitness questions of its own this season, notably around Manuel Locatelli’s injury situation, which only sharpens the club’s need to track available options.
The central obstacle remains money. Anguissa is said to be demanding around €6 million per season, a significant rise on his current reported salary of €3.8 million, and that gap has left negotiations stuck. Napoli operate under a strict wage ceiling, and between that policy and their reservations about his age and fitness, the club appears in no rush to meet his valuation. The impasse leaves Anguissa’s next contract, and his club, still unresolved.
