Albertini stresses need for ‘specific DNA’ at Milan and reveals Camarda hope
Demetrio Albertini believes AC Milan need the right ‘DNA’ in order to strive for the top, while Francesco Camarda also deserves opportunities.
There are few who know what it takes to win with Milan like Albertini, who in his 14-season career with the Rossoneri won a total of 15 major trophies. He was one of the key men in Fabio Capello’s ‘Invincibles’ is a valued member of the AC Milan Hall of Fame.
Alberini spoke to TV Play and he was asked how far Milan can go this season, stressing the need for the right ‘DNA’ to be in the squad for them to achieve good things. MilanNews relayed his words.
“More than where they can go, it’s where they must go: they absolutely must finish in the top four, always aiming for the top. However, we must be aware that this is a time of construction,” he said.
“I keep repeating it: several years have passed, the club’s organisation has changed, and even many players. The sum of the individual talents and their value alone aren’t enough to automatically create a team. You need to build a specific DNA, because every group is different, and that’s not always that simple.”
The former midfielder was also asked about the development of Camarda, who is yet to start a game this season despite being kept in the squad as the back-up to Goncalo Ramos.
“He doesn’t play in my position, but I hope Camarda gets the chance to shine and prove he’s not just a talent, but can become a mature player.
“We need to give him space and, above all, time to grow: when you’re young, you don’t yet have the necessary experience, so mistakes have to be taken into account and accepted, especially with a player like him.
“As a striker, he’s often judged solely on his goals, but he needs to gain experience, and I sincerely hope he can assert himself even at this time.”
