Roy Keane delivers four-word Celtic verdict after Rangers defeat

Roy Keane offered a brief reaction to Celtic’s defeat to Rangers after walking past a live fan media broadcast outside Parkhead on Sunday.

The former Celtic and Manchester United midfielder was inside Celtic Park to watch Martin O’Neill’s side suffer a 1-0 derby defeat and was spotted in the stands by Sky Sports cameras.

After the match, Keane happened to walk past a live recording of Celtic AM outside the stadium, prompting host Hamish Carton to call out to him.

During the recording, Carton said: “There’s Roy Keane. Roy Keane is just walking by.

“Alright Roy, you hero. Any thoughts, Roy? Roy Keane has literally just walked by.”

Keane responded with a short assessment of the situation, shouting back: “Ups and downs of football”.

His appearance at Parkhead came as speculation began over potential managerial options should O’Neill decide to leave Celtic following a miserable run of results.

Celtic have suffered three defeats in seven days, losing twice against Rangers either side of a 3-1 Europa League defeat to Ferencvaros at Parkhead.

O’Neill admitted after Sunday’s derby loss that he intends to use the international break to consider his position.

He said: “I will reflect on the games.

“I’ll obviously speak to the board. And you never know, they may want to speak to me. But yeah, I’ll see. I’ve got some time to do that.

“I will have a look, try and get a couple of days away and see how it goes.”

Asked what would happen if his reflection led him to conclude that he could not improve the team, O’Neill replied: “By that time, I will promise you, I’ll let you know.

“I don’t know. I’ll have a look.”
