Derek McInnes' Rangers will hope to bounce back from a Europa League defeat in Poland against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Derek McInnes' start to life at Rangers has not gone to plan, but they will look to change that when they play their first match of the season at Ibrox when they take on Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee United in the opening round of the Scottish Premiership, before losing 2-1 to Jagiellonia in Poland on Thursday.

Gers will want to go into their second leg with some momentum as they try to cling on to their European hopes.

Hibernian lost 2-1 to Motherwell on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership, but they responded by beating Shkendija 2-1 in their Europa Conference League qualifier.

Team News

Rangers boss McInnes could be without summer signing Ben Godfrey after he picked up an injury in their opening game of the campaign, while Connor Barron and Jose Cifuentes miss out with knee injuries.

Hibernian are still without Rocky Bushiri, Jamie McGrath and Nicky Cadden due to injuries.

The stats

Hibernian are unbeaten in their last two games against Rangers.

Rangers lost 2-1 to Hibernian in their last home game against them in May.

The Gers have only lost two of their last 10 matches against Hibernian in all competitions.

Including the end of last season, Rangers have only won one of their last six Scottish Premiership matches.

Prediction

Life at Ibrox has been far from plain sailing for McInnes and his new arrivals and the pressure is already on.

The Gers board put their faith in McInnes and he brought Lawrence Shankland with him from Hearts and made him captain, while he also dragged Cam Devlin along from Tynecastle Park.

Rangers can ill afford to slip up again, but they have won seven of their last nine home games against Hibs.

Hibernian have a smaller squad than Rangers and have struggled to string performances together due to their new Thursday/Sunday schedule.

Fewer than four goals have been scored in the past five clashes between the pair, but the two teams have not impressed defensively at the start of the campaign.

With neither side keeping a clean sheet yet this season, another entertaining game should be on the cards in Glasgow.

Despite their slow start, Rangers will raise their game in front of their passionate fanbase and their recent home record against Hibs suggests they can find a way to victory.
