Celtic handed Yang Hyun-jun fitness update ahead of Asian Games Final
Yang has been away from Parkhead representing his country at the tournament but recently suffered a hamstring strain which ruled him out of their quarter-final victory over Vietnam.
The Celtic star declared himself available for the semi-final against China and returned to the matchday squad, although he remained an unused substitute as South Korea booked their place in the final.
They will now face hosts Japan in Toyota tomorrow with a gold medal on the line. Victory would also see Yang earn an exemption from future military conscription.
However, Lee insists he will not take any risks with the 24-year-old and stressed his responsibility to return Yang to Celtic in good condition.
He said via TCW: “It is not easy for Yang Hyun-jun to maintain his 100 per cent physical condition yet.
“We need to check his physical fitness before the final.
“Player protection is the priority. The national team is borrowing these players from their clubs by calling them up.
“So I think it is only right to send them back to their clubs in full physical condition and in good health.”
