Brian Wilson confirms Celtic Board refresh to continue

Celtic have confirmed that the process of recruiting a new club chairman is ongoing. The Scottish Champions are expected to continue refreshing the Board in the near future with an a permanent successor to interim chairman Brian Wilson, who has filled in on a temporary basis since Peter Lawwell retired.

Wilson has been in the role throughout 2026 and has attempted to stabilise events at the club but it is clear that there are a number of ongoing issues that will be present unless there are significant changes.

Addressing the situation in Celtic’s annual report, Wilson confirmed further boardroom changes are planned.

“I was asked by colleagues to step into the role of Interim Chairman and have done my best to bring people together in order to maximise the team’s prospects of success and to encourage improvement in areas where we could have been doing better including communication and supporter engagement,” he said.

“This work is ongoing.”

Earlier this month, Celtic confirmed the appointments of Mark Keane and Raymond Buchanan before adding: “This process of refreshing the Board will continue including identification of a successor to myself.”

It confirms Celtic are actively planning another significant change at boardroom level following Lawwell’s departure and Tom Allison’s retirement. It is, however, somewhat concerning that Celtic are yet to resolve this matter.

There have been some wild speculation peddled that the Celtic support are to blame for no one being recruited for the chairmanship.
